Teaching as a profession is very attractive as it brings huge amount of respect to an individual. Indian society has always given great regards to the teachers. The profession brings in job security and satisfaction to one’s life. B. Ed or Bachelors of Education is one of the finest courses for those who have the passion to teach. It falls under the category of Professional Undergraduate Courses, designed especially to train individuals to teach at the school level. Many fresh graduates take up teaching as a career option and pursue B.Ed to achieve the goal.

Nowadays, B.Ed is compulsory to teach at primary as well as high schools. Many students complete their Bachelors as well as Masters degree and then opt for B.Ed to teach class 11th and class 12th students, whereas, others either go for the integrated B.Ed Courses or pursue B.Ed after completing graduation. Currently, the National Council of Teacher Education sets the standards for the B.Ed curriculum and arranges the processes for the education system in India.

As B.Ed is one of the choicest career options for many, various government and private colleges and universities provide the course to students. The application and admission process for the B.Ed courses take place in the month of February, May, June and July. However, there has been a delay in the admission process for B.Ed course for the academic session 2020-21. Central and state-level government universities conduct an entrance exam to intake the best candidates. Also, many states conduct their own B.Ed Exams.

Educational Qualification: Candidates need to have completed their graduation in any stream (that is, Arts, Science or Commerce) in order to fulfill B.Ed eligibility criteria. However, most popular B.Ed colleges allow candidates to take part in their admission process for B.Ed course if they have graduated with at least 50-55% aggregate marks at the UG level.

Age Limit: For B.Ed admissions in a majority of colleges, there is no age bar. However, admission process of some B.Ed colleges require candidates to be minimum 19 years in age.

B.Ed admission in a majority of colleges and universities is done on the basis of entrance exams. The pattern of popular B.Ed entrance exams is such that aspirants need to attempt questions from two or three sections. The first section tests the language proficiency and the remaining sections test the domain knowledge and reasoning aptitude of candidates.
